Amy Fleig

504 Coordinator and SpEd Support

Amy grew up in St. Louis, Missouri always knowing she wanted to be a teacher. She made her move to Colorado to attend Colorado College and never looked back! Amy got her B.A. from CC in Psychology of Education and also earned her Colorado State Teaching License in Elementary Education. She then moved to Charlottesville, Virginia to complete her M.Ed. in Educational Psychology: Applied Developmental Science. There she conducted research on the benefits of service learning, the importance of language use in student motivation, and best practices in teaching elementary mathematics. After finishing her master’s degree, Amy could feel the mountains calling and came back to Denver. She taught 5th grade in a local Expeditionary Learning school and became disenfranchised with the traditional realm of public schools. Luckily, she had a connection at Compass Montessori and enrolled in the AMI Elementary training course in Atlanta, Georgia in the summer of 2014, and began her time at Compass in the Earth Room in the fall of 2014. In training, Amy fell in love with the interconnectedness and purpose of Cosmic Education. For the 2017-18 school year, Amy took on the additional responsibility of 504 Coordinator for the Wheat Ridge campus. Beginning this fall Amy will be the 504 Coordinator and SpEd support staff member for the Golden campus.
