A Colorado native, I grew up in Golden and graduated from Wheat Ridge high school and CU Boulder. I've lived in Rhode Island, Alaska and South Africa and have called Evergreen home the past 16 years with my husband Eddy and my two boys. This fall, my youngest son Stratton will be a 6th grader in the Water room at the Wheat Ridge campus and my older son Aiden will be an 8th grader in Community and Kitchen at the Golden campus.
How did I get to Compass? It was not a direct flight. Armed with a political science degree, I first landed in marketing communications but after 20 years I found I really enjoyed volunteering and side jobs with kids: guiding multiple Compass Destination Imagination teams, working as a paraprofessional at Kyffin Elementary in Golden, and playing in the snow as a ski instructor in the Winter Park children's program and the National Sports Center for the Disabled (NSCD). Finally realizing that working with kids was my true happiness, I embarked on a path to early childhood education and was most recently a preschool teacher at Bergen Meadow in Evergreen.
Being able to combine my love for Montessori and early childhood education is a dream come true and I feel extremely lucky to be able to spend my future days at Compass.
