October 24, 2016

This is a busy week for the Acacia Room and we wanted to be sure to keep you aware of all of our activities!

Tomorrow our actor friend Kenny will be visiting all of Lower Elementary to work on teambuilding activities and improvisational skills. The children greatly look forward to Kenny's visits, and many remember working with him last year! We are fortunate to have Kenny joining us for three consecutive weeks, bringing his unique theatrical magic to our classrooms. The combined cost per student for all three workshops is $8; please return this payment in an envelope with your child's name clearly marked.

Thursday the Colorado Mountain Club will be on campus to (re)introduce kids to slack-lining and bouldering. Be sure your child is wearing comfortable clothing that allows for easy movement and sturdy and/or tennis shoes. We are super excited to participate in this opportunity.

Friday will be our long anticipated Historical Halloween celebration. Children are a buzz with excitement over their own costume ideas as well as other's. (We are having a hard time keeping our characters a secret in some cases!) Please remember that we do NOT expect elaborate costuming, rather we enjoy hearing about student learning and more about the historical figures they chose. We will BOTH be dressed up as well and welcome parent guesses!

Monday we will not celebrate a traditional Halloween at school, rather the Lower Elementary team will have an "Immersion Day" in which children will visit all three classrooms to tie together learning about the Day of the Dead and Mexican culture. We ask that no treats be sent nor costumes worn on that day. It is CRAZY HAIR day however, so children can feel free to get wild with their heads! We are looking forward to all of these extra events but expect to resume our normal routines in November.
