I am a Montessori child at heart! I grew up in Wisconsin and went to a Waukesha Montessori School for many years. I have great memories from my experiences and am so happy to be helping other families make wonderful memories from our community as well.
I went to school in Montana for Environmental Studies and Sustainable Agriculture. I spent a lot of my time there teaching young children about farming and how our food grows. It was then I decided that I wanted to take hands-on learning into my career choice. When I finished my undergraduate degree, I moved to Maryland to pursue my Master's in Education and AMI Primary Certification.
My first year of teaching was at a public Montessori school in Washington, D.C. I loved my time in the city, but realized I missed the mountain life. I ended up finding a job here in Colorado and haven't looked back since.
I love to spend my free time gardening, baking, walking my dogs in the mountains and exploring this beautiful state with my family! I am so honored to be a part of the Compass community!
Welcome to the Forest Room. My name is Bridget Swartzlander. I have been a certified Pre-primary Montessori teacher since 1991. I hold a Colorado teaching license. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education, from Bloomsburg University in Pennsylvania and a Master’s degree in Reading from Regis University, Denver, Colorado.
My family includes my husband of 38 years, two grown sons and their wives and five grand-children. I enjoy reading, walking and swimming. My practice includes working toward providing an interesting and challenging, learning environment where the children will flourish socially and academically. I believe that as a community ‘happily’ working together; teachers, parents and school staff, we all contribute to the children developing a true love of lifetime learning.
