Hello! My name is Christy Curton and I am thrilled to be a part of Compass! I grew up in Indiana and received my undergraduate degree in Elementary Education from Indiana University. I received my Montessori training from MECR in Boulder 16 years ago. I have been in lower elementary classes since then, taking 3 years away to earn my masters degree in Reading Education and be a Reading Specialist and 1 year off to be with our daughter after she was born. Kyla is now 8 years old and she is (along with my husband, Chris) excited to be back in Colorado. We all miss the snow! We love to be outside with our dog, camping, biking, hiking and playing in the mountains. I enjoy yoga, reading, and sewing. We also have a sweet horse in Estes Park and we are looking forward to seeing her and riding her more often. I was amazed when I observed my first Montessori classroom when I was 17 years old, and believe that is when the path of my life became clear. I had direction and passion and hope for a different kind of education. I believe in providing children with environments in which they can thrive independently. I believe in educating the whole child. I believe Maria Montessori was brilliant in her work with children and I strive to embody what she did and what she would want me to do today.
