Hi, everyone! I am Amy Fleig, and this is my sixth year in the Compass community and eighth year in the education world. I feel so fortunate to be joining the Compass Montessori administrative team this year in a
new role as the Head of Student Support Services. I’m excited to apply my experiences teaching upper elementary and serving as the school’s Section 504 coordinator to lead our Section 504, intervention, special education, gifted and talented, English language learning, and multi-tiered systems of support programs to meet the needs of all of Compass’s learners.
I grew up in St. Louis, Missouri and moved west to attend Colorado College. I earned my B.A. from CC in Psychology of Education and also received my Colorado State Teaching License in Elementary Education. I then moved to Charlottesville, Virginia to complete my M.Ed. in Educational Psychology: Applied Developmental Science. I learned about Compass after returning to Colorado and joined a three-year AMI Elementary Montessori training cohort in Atlanta, Georgia. I hold my AMI 6-12 Elementary diploma and thoroughly loved teaching in the Earth Room here at Compass. During my tenure at Compass, I have also served as a staff representative for the Compass board and the Section 504 Coordinator, and I have spearheaded the annual Spread the Love Valentines Day volunteer event. I am currently enrolled in a principal licensure program through Western Colorado University and look forward to working with this amazing administrative and front office team!
My wife, Michelle, and I are deeply connected to the community and love attending Compass events. We own a home in the Wheat Ridge area and love exploring our local Tennyson and Olde Town Arvada neighborhoods. Outside of school, I can be found trying out new vegetarian recipes, exploring farmers’ markets, attending concerts and comedy shows, and enjoying our beautiful Colorado nature. Keep an eye out around town for Michelle and I with our pups Tegan and Frankie!
