Shannon grew up just up the road from Compass in Applewood and attended Maple Grove for my elementary education.  As my journey continued, I fell in love with the community and real-life learning opportunities that presented themselves in the restaurant industry and spent 10 years working in training and development, human resource management, and owned a small business consulting firm all while getting my Bachelor’s Degree in Organizational Leadership and Small Business Management.  In 2018, I decided it was time for a big change and wanted to figure out a way to inspire young minds and incorporate preparation for life into an academic setting.  Then, Montessori found me and, being familiar with the Compass community, I was thrilled to accept the position as Co-Teacher in the Earth Room.  This past summer I enjoyed completing my Upper Elementary Montessori training at Montessori Center of the Rockies.  Maria Montessori’s wisdom was indeed well before her time and I feel so grateful for the opportunity to give young minds the academic and social knowledge necessary for success in life through this method of education. “We must help the child to act for himself, will for himself, think for himself; this is the art of those who aspire to serve the spirit.”- Maria Montessori
