Remote Learning for Compass High School

I want to make sure everyone understands the process for this coming week. You will be receiving an email invitation from your teachers to join a Zoom meeting. This invitation will include a meeting link as well as a meeting code and password. Once you have installed the Zoom application you should be able to click on the link which will then launch the app/meeting, as well as pre populate the fields for the meeting code and the password at which point all you will need to do is put in your name and join the meeting. If the meeting information does not pre populate for you simply copy and paste the meeting code and password which is also included in the email invitation from your teacher. Keep your inbox clean so there is no confusion about which meeting you are joining. Once the teacher has completed and ended the meeting the link will no longer work. If you have not downloaded the app you can do so by going to the Zoom Download Center. I highly recommend all of you take some time today to familiarize yourself with Zoom by joining a test meeting. Here is a video showing how to use the Zoom app, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vFhAEoCF7jg&feature=youtu.be

Be sure to set yourself up for success by making sure you are ready to be effective while working from home. Here are some tips:

1.  Keep the Same Schedule - Start out by sticking to the same schedule as when you went into school. “Try to get up at the same time, and do all the things you would typically do to get ready for school. Make a to-do list every morning so you have a clear idea of how you are spending your day.

2.  Set Boundaries - Pick a spot in your home away from distractions. I recommend working at a desk or dining room table so you have room for both your computer and a notebook to take notes.

3. Check in with your advisor - Continue to communicate and check in with your teachers.

4. Try to take a break during the day - It can be challenging when working from home so it's important to take a break and clear your head. Exercise of any kind is a great way to refocus and increase your productivity.

Best,
