High School
Welcome to our High School Back to School Hub!
As a reminder, our High School programs include all 10th, 11th and 12th grade students. Whether you are a new or returning family, please read ALL of the back to learning information provided.
Note: Compass High School does not require registration for classes like other high schools. Your child has been enrolled in their classes, and students will create their schedules the first week of school.
- Visit Infinite Campus (IC) & Pay Fees - Log into Infinite Campus (IC). Check your contact information, emergency contacts and fees. For a step-by-step guide to navigating IC, click HERE. (This is very important, as we communicate with you using the contact information in IC!)
- Blanket Permission Form - ALL students 1st - 12th grade must complete our 2024-25 Blanket Permission Form. ALL families 1st - 12th grade must complete this form, and choose their permission preferences no later than August 19, 2024.
- Photo Opt OUT Form - You only need to complete our Compass Photo Opt Out Form 2024-25 if you DO NOT want your child in any photographs at school. Please complete it by August 16, 2024. If you give permission for them to be in photos to represent our school, no action is required.
- Order Hot Lunch for August & September - Hot Lunch begins August 26th. Order forms for the last week in August and all of September will open by August 9th, and will be due August 18, 2024. Click on Hot Lunch in the top right corner of our website to place your orders. Please plan to pack lunch until Aug 26th. (Each month, orders will be open on the 1st and due on the 10th (deadlines are strict so mark your calendars!) Remember, we do not use School Cafe to pay for lunch through Jeffco’s Infinite Campus. All hot lunches are paid for in our hot lunch order forms directly on our website.
- Review Hours of Operation - During the school year, High School drop-off begins at 7:30 AM and school begins promptly at 7:45 AM. School ends at 2:45 PM, and all students must be picked up no later than 3:00 PM. You can always double check these times in our Hours of Operation link in Contact Us. (bookmark this page!)
- Attendance, Tardy & Prearranged Absences - If your student is absent or tardy, please complete the Attendance, Tardy & Prearranged Absence Form on the homepage of our website.
- Calendar - Check the school calendar on our website regularly! (Please note, our charter school calendar is not always exactly the same as Jeffco’s calendar, so always cross reference.)
- Family & Student Handbook - All parents must read and acknowledge the parent handbook each year. The handbook includes policies for attendance, hours, enrollment, fees, conferences, student support, trips, safety and more! It's a great place to look if you have questions throughout the school year. The 2024-25 handbook is pending board approval, and we'll share a copy with you after it's approved by our Board. For now, you may review the 2023-24 Family & Student Handbook.
- Immunizations - Each year, every student must submit a copy of their Immunization records (or exemption documents). Please make sure our clinic aides have the most current immunization record at the beginning of each school year. It's always best to pull a fresh immunization record and give it to our clinic aides, just to be sure we have everything on record! (Submit to the clinic aides: Golden Campus: Serra Draper at [email protected]; Wheat Ridge Campus: Lisa Krieg at [email protected]
- Athletics Physical - If your child plans to participate in athletics, they also need a sports physical on record prior to their team's first practice. Read more HERE.
Med Forms (if applicable) -
- If your child has ANY medication which needs to be administered at school, please have your medical provider complete this Medical Agreement Form,. Colorado Allergy & Anaphylaxis Form and/or the Colorado Asthma Care Plan Form and return to the clinic aide with the medicine in its original container by the first day of school. Reach out to our clinic aides with questions. (Golden Campus: Serra Draper-Peckham at [email protected]; Wheat Ridge Campus: Lisa Krieg at [email protected]
High School Cell Phone Policy 2024
Dear High School Families:
Cell phones are wonders of technology, and we recognize that they can be tools for communication and learning. We also believe that cell phones are creating barriers to community building, peer-to-peer and peer-to-guide communication, and academic engagement. We hope that removing phones from the environment for approximately 5 ½ hours per school day will promote more balance and encourage students to engage a range of strategies and resources.
When we return to school in August, we will institute a technology policy more in line with our pre-COVID “off, off, and away” philosophy. During the morning work cycle, from advisor check-in to lunch, and during electives, we will ask students t0 turn their phones OFF and place them in zippered bags that students can keep with them. Students who do not comply will need to check their phones into a “phone hotel” in an administrator’s office.
Parents/guardians are encouraged to remind their students about appointments and transportation plans verbally and by email. Parents/guardians who need to reach their student in the case of an emergency may contact their child on their cell phone before 7:45, during lunch, or after 2:45. If an urgent need arises during core academic hours, please call the main office: 303-271-1977, and we will connect you with your student via a landline.
We appreciate your support of our community and look forward to continuing our dialogue on how we can encourage students to better understand the ways technology can distract us from our work and enrich our lives.
In peace,
The High School Guides
