This Education presentation on the Montessori Philosophy is for parents, guardians and other caretakers in our community. It's an exciting way to learn more about the way our children are learning at Compass Montessori School.

Each year, our special guest and renowned Montessorian Betsy Lockhart returns to lead this overview presentation for our new families and anyone who wants a refresher. Betsy is a true Montessorian with over 30 years of experience teaching and training teachers and guides, and she has a beautiful, informative workshop in store for us!

It's important to understand the "why" behind Montessori because every detail is prepared and intentional in classrooms, work plans, trips and learning experiences for our students.

New and returning families are welcome! (We offer the same overview presentation each year, mostly for new families to Montessori, but it's always a great refresher for returning families too! All are welcome.

Why do Children's House and Elementary students roll out rugs and sort beads?

Why is it important to allow students to make mistakes?

Why do they sometimes work on one "work" for days or weeks? Why is that ok?

What are the developmental stages, and how do they fit into the three-year blocks in our classrooms?

Why do they call middle school adolescents "social newborns?"

What is the Trinomial Cube and how does it teach our students the Pythagorean theorem?

Betsy is ready to dive in with our parent community, and if you didn't attend Montessori school yourself, or often feel you have no idea what your kids are doing all day...this is the perfect workshop for you!
