Important Reminder! Spring 2026 Final Exams for 10th and 11th years will be held May 26-28, 2026 - after Memorial Day. Please do not plan any family vacations or trips during this time so that students are able to finish out their semester. Seniors will complete their finals prior to graduation (May 21, 2026).

Welcome to Compass Montessori High School!

The Compass Montessori High School community is a small, strong older adolescent community grounded in the ideas of freedom, respect, and responsibility.

School Hours: 7:45 AM - 2:45 PM, Monday-Friday
High School doors open at 7:30 AM each morning. Students must check in with their advisor by 7:55 AM in order to be counted as "present" for the day. Late arriving students (after 7:55) must check in at the front office before proceeding to the High School environment.

If a student is going to be absent or late to school on an individual school day, a Parent/Guardian must fill out the Absent/Tardy Form. This form should be used when a student arrives late or leaves early due to an appointment or is absent due to an illness.

If a student will be taking a planned extended absence from school (one or more full days), please fill out the Extended Absence Request Form at least three days prior to the scheduled absence. Families will then receive notification from front office staff on whether the absence will be excused or unexcused.

The Montessori High School Student's prepared environment is their course schedule. Students take, on average, between 6-7 courses (3-3.5 credits) in one academic semester. Courses include: four morning core classes, which include Humanities, Mathematics, and Physical Sciences, up to two academic electives, and participation in our Authentic World of Learning (AWOL) community service program.

Each week, students are responsible for scheduling lessons in their morning core classes based on when the guides are offering those lessons. Students then complete follow-up assignments as necessary as they move through the curricula.

High School Cell Phone Policy (As of Fall 2024):

Cell phones are wonders of technology, and we recognize that they can be tools for communication and learning.  We also believe that cell phones are creating barriers to community building, peer-to-peer and peer-to-guide communication, and academic engagement.  We hope that removing phones from the environment for approximately 5 ½ hours per school day will promote more balance and encourage students to engage a range of strategies and resources.

When we return to school in August, we will continue with our technology policy more in line with our pre-COVID “off, off, and away” philosophy.  During the morning work cycle, from advisor check-in to lunch, and during electives, we will ask students t0 turn their phones OFF and place them in zippered bags that students can keep with them.  Students who do not comply will need to check their phones into a “phone hotel” in an administrator’s office.

Parents/guardians are encouraged to remind their students about appointments and transportation plans verbally and by email.  Parents/guardians who need to reach their student in the case of an emergency may contact their child on their cell phone before 7:45, during lunch, or after 2:45. If an urgent need arises during core academic hours, please call the main office: 303-271-1977, and we will connect you with your student via a landline.

We appreciate your support of our community and look forward to continuing our dialogue on how we can encourage students to better understand the ways technology can distract us from our work and enrich our lives.
