Thank you for your interest in our Before and After Care program at the Wheat Ridge Campus.
We've had an overwhelming response from our community requesting After Care, and we appreciate your patience. We are currently accepting registration for our Waitlist, but at this time our program is full.
Before & After Care FAQs
Why is Before & After Care different this year?
Currently, we are short-staffed for After Care, and although we are taking new employment applications and interviewing as often as we can, we cannot accommodate all requests at this time. In an effort to offer After Care to as many families as possible, we have limited the options, and can no longer offer families the option to change their After Care days weekly. While we understand this was an option in the past, we can no longer accommodate that flexibility due to short staffing. In the meantime, if you know someone who may be a good fit for these positions, please send them our way!

What if my child is absent, can I get a refund for that Before & After Care fee for that day?
We cannot offer refunds, as we have staffed that day regardless of your child’s attendance. (Even in the case of approved pre-arranged absences.)
What if I register for a certain schedule in Before or After Care, and I need to change that schedule?
A request can be made for changes to your schedule, but a service fee of $25 will be added to your IC Parent Portal to make those changes, and accommodate the rearranged staffing.
What if we sign up for Before or After Care, but my needs change and I no longer need it?
You can cancel your Before & After Care registration at any time for the upcoming month, with no penalty. If you decide to re-register, there will be a new $25 registration fee to re-register your child back up for Before/After Care.
What if I am running late, and my child is not signed up for After Care for that day?
If your child is not enrolled in After Care, they can’t attend After Car for that day, but school age children (1st - 6th) can wait in the front vestibule or directly outside the school. Please note, there is no scheduled adult supervision after school hours.
What if we need an unscheduled drop in?
We can no longer accommodate unscheduled drop-ins. If our staffing changes, and this option opens up again, we will let you know.
A few other things to note:
- We can no longer accommodate unscheduled Drop-Ins
- Fees are due on the 1st of every month. (August is billed for the days you use, and fees are collected monthly starting in September. All fees will be uploaded and payable in your Infinite Campus Parent Portal.
- We can't accommodate weekly changes, so families must choose a consistent After Care schedule for each week.
- Monthly fees are late if received after the 10th of the month, and a $20 late fee will be assessed.
- If you are late on your payments your child(ren) will not be allowed to participate in the Before & After Care Program at Wheat Ridge until your balance is paid in full.
- Receipts are provided upon request.
- Late fees will be applied at $1.00 per minute per child not picked up by 5:45 PM. Late fees are expected to be paid upon pickup or within the next business day.
There is a registration fee for all who register for Before and After Care at Wheat Ridge.

We are no longer offering Drop-In rates. All days of the week must be scheduled upon registration.
Once registered, here are some helpful tips for attending the Before and/or After Care Program.
Before Care Drop-Off: At drop off, please ring the doorbell and scan the QR code posted on the window by the doorbell. The Before Care staff will come down to collect your Children's House child. If your child is in 1st - 6th grade, our Before Care Staff will watch for them on the security camera, and once you ring the doorbell, they will buzz your child in and they may walk down to Before Care on their own. (please do not ring the office bell, ring the Before/After Care Bell). Children will take all of their belongings with them to Before Care and not stop at their cubby before hand.
Breakfast: Children will be provided with a pre-packaged breakfast each day which is included in your fee. Update Added to this document: Breakfast service will end at 7:40 AM to allow for the children to eat and make it to class on time.
After Care Drop-Off: Children will be taken to After Care by their classroom teacher after school each day and signed in by our staff.
Snack: We will provide a snack for the children daily during After Care. If your child has food allergies please reach out to me ASAP so that we are able to meet their needs safely.
Activities: Children will participate in both indoor and outdoor activities, weather permitting. Please do not send toys from home.
Sunscreen: We will provide sunscreen for all children unless parents specify otherwise when we participate in outdoor activities.
After Care Pick Up: Parents will ring the bell at the front door and will then wait in the foyer while their child is brought to them. If someone other than the parent is picking up your child, it's your responsibility to add them as an Approved Pick-Up person in your Brightwheel app. They will need to have their own 4-digit code and app installed on their phone.
Medications: If your child needs emergency or routine medications during Before or After Care please have your child’s physician fill out the “Colorado Allergy or Anaphylaxis Emergency Care Plan and Medication Orders” form and/or the “Colorado Asthma Care Plan” form (both attached). You can find these form HERE. This will allow Compass After/Before Care staff to administer medications to your child as needed. Separate medications from the school day will need to be provided and kept in Before and After Care.
Injury/Illness: In the event of injury or illness, the parent will be called to pick up their child within 30 minutes. In the event of a potentially life-threatening emergency, the parent and 911 will be called.

Our Golden campus offers Before & After Care through Kids SmART. Kid SmART is a franchised before/after school program, and they are a separate business offering this extended care for our Golden campus. Please reach out to them for before and after care registration at the Golden Campus.
Kid SmART FAQs (Golden campus only)
No, Kids SmART uses the space to offer this program to children at Compass and children from the Golden community who do not attend Compass Montessori School.
Parents must enroll directly through Kids SmART and Compass staff are not involved in that process. You’ll need to submit separate health forms, and other enrollment documents to KidSmART, as they carry a separate license on their own.
