Before & After Care



Please review this document thoroughly if you plan to use Before or After Care in ANY capacity.

Welcome to our Compass Before and After Care Program. We are excited to see the children for the school year. Please read the following information in its entirety and complete the Google form (link below) if you wish for your child to participate. If interested, you must complete this Google form before your child is able to attend the Before or After Care Program.

Fees are due on the 1st of every month. Monthly fees are late if received after the 10th of the month, and a $20 late fee will be assessed. All fees will be uploaded and payable on your Infinite Campus Parent Portal. If you are late on your payments your child(ren) will not be allowed to participate in the Before & After Care Program at Wheat Ridge until your balance is paid in full. Receipts provided upon request. Late fees are applied at $1.00 per minute per child not picked up by 5:45 PM. Late fees are expected to be paid upon pickup or within the next business day.

For the month of August fees will be posted in your child’s Infinite Campus Parent Portal at the drop-in rate for the 10 days used in August in September.

Here are some helpful tips for attending the After Care Program.

Before Care Drop-Off: (* This is a change) Children need to be walked to the front doors of the building, please ring the bell and the Before Care staff will come down to share the clipboard with the sign-in for your child. Children will take all of their belongings with them to Before Care and not stop at their cubby before.

Breakfast: Children will be provided with a pre-packaged breakfast each day which is included in your fee. Update Added to this document: Breakfast service will end at 7:40 AM to allow for the children to eat and make it to class on time.

After Care Drop-Off: Children will be taken to After Care by their classroom teacher after school each day and signed in by our staff. *Please be sure to indicate After Care (AC) when dropping off your child in the morning for Children’s House children and communicate this to your child for all Elementary children.

Snack: We will provide a snack for the children daily during After Care. If your child has food allergies please reach out to me ASAP so that we are able to meet their needs safely.

Activities: Children will participate in both indoor and outdoor activities, weather permitting. Please do not send toys from home.

Sunscreen: We will provide sunscreen for all children unless parents specify otherwise when we participate in outdoor activities.

Masks: Per Jeffco, all staff and students are required to wear a mask indoors regardless of vaccination status. We are following Jeffco and requiring the same.

Water bottles: Children will need to come to school with a water bottle. If your child will be attending After Care, they will be expected to bring their water bottle from the classroom to After Care and water bottles will be sent home when the child goes home.

After Care Pick Up: Parents will ring the bell at the front door and will then wait in the foyer while their child is brought to them. If someone other than the parent is picking up your child that person will be required to show ID before being permitted to take your child, and we ask that the parent let us know ahead of time via email or phone call.

Medications: If your child needs emergency or routine medications during Before or After Care please have your child’s physician fill out the “Colorado Allergy or Anaphylaxis Emergency Care Plan and Medication Orders” form and/or the “Colorado Asthma Care Plan” form (both attached). This will allow Compass After/Before Care staff to administer medications to your child as needed. Separate medications from the school day will need to be provided and kept in Before and After Care.

Injury/Illness: In the event of injury or illness, the parent will be called to pick up their child within 30 minutes. In the event of a potentially life-threatening emergency, the parent and 911 will be called.

Please submit your registration on this Google form HERE for your child to participate in the Compass Before &/or After Care programs on the Wheat Ridge campus even if you will only need either service on a drop in basis. Golden Before and After Care kids


Our Golden campus offers Before & After Care through Kids SmART. (see flyer below) Kid SmART is a franchised before/after school program, and they are a separate business offering this extended care for our Golden campus. Please reach out to renting space at the Golden campus to offer afternoon care for Golden families.

Kid SmART FAQs (Golden campus only)

Does the Kids SmART program at Compass only allow students from our school to attend?
No, Kids SmART uses the space to offer this program to children at Compass and children from the Golden community who do not attend Compass Montessori School.
Can I enroll in Kids SmART through Compass Staff?
Parents must enroll directly through Kids SmART and Compass staff are not involved in that process. You’ll need to submit separate health forms, and other enrollment documents to KidSmART, as they carry a separate license on their own.
Is Kids SmART a Montessori program?
No, this after care option is not affiliated with Compass Montessori School, nor does it offer a Montessori experience for children after school. Kids SmART is a general child care program that we invited so Golden campus parents have an option for child care in the afternoons.
What can I expect my children to be doing in the Kids SmART program?
