2025 Games Schedule (TBD)

What is Compass Basketball

Basketball is a middle school only sport and offered through the Middle School Sports Program (MSSP) that the Jeffco League provides to all students in 6th-8th grade.

Playing basketball for Compass is a great way to develop new skills, build bonds with your teammates, and show your PINK grit as a Compass athlete! At Compass we use sports as a means to develop the child into a better person. They learn teamwork, sacrifice, grit, develop decision making skills, improve mental coordination, and improve self confidence. We also learn a lot about how to play basketball! Our coaches are all former basketball athletes and they carefully and intentionally take the athlete through the development process and lead by example.

We win as a team and lose as a team at Compass! Come check out what basketball is all about! #skounicorns!

REGISTRATION AND FORMS

1.) Your first step is to complete the registration form. REGISTER HERE to participate. REGISTRATION OPENS MONDAY NOVEMBER 11th, 2024 and CLOSES FRIDAY DECEMBER 6TH, 2024. This gives us time to process forms, create rosters, and order equipment and jerseys before Winter Break, so we can be ready to go after the New Year for Compass basketball! (You will need your child's sports physical to complete the registration form!)

2.) Submit your COMPASS ATHLETICS RELEASE FORM form. If you completed this form for another sport in the 2024-25 school year, you may skip this step. We only need this form completed 1x/school year for each athlete.

3.) Submit a CURRENT PHYSICAL (the exam must be dated within a year of the start of the sport season in which your child wants to participate). You can submit the physical in one of two ways:  a)The form from the doctor that clearly says your child is healthy and can participate in sports or activities, or b) Have your doctor fill out the Compass Physical form FOUND HERE. (We do need a physical form uploaded for every sport. Even if you uploaded this into your Cross Country registration form (for example), we also need it uploaded here. Thank you for helping us stay compliant, and supporting this registration process.)

All physical forms must be submitted during the registration process so please have that file ready to upload. Remember, even if you submitted a physical file from a past sport, you will still need to re-submit for every new sport at Compass. Thank you.

Who Can Participate: ALL students 6th grade - 8th grade can compete in games and practice once per week. The number of teams we will have is dependent on how many students register. For the 2025 season, we hope to field our first girls only team, a 6/7th grade team, and an 8th grade team!

Since we are a Middle School Sports Program team participating in the Jeffco league, the competitive meets are for those in "middle school" (6th to 8th grade, per the district's definition of middle school). Our teams are usually mixed gender and mixed grades.

If your child is younger than 6th grade and wants to practice, please reach out to Dan on email at [email protected]

We welcome ANY and ALL athletes, no matter their abilities, size, or experience. Whether you are someone new to sport, someone looking for ways to stay healthy, or a seasoned "baller", we want you to join our team!

Where: Practices will be after school at the Tony Grampsas Gym next to the Compass Golden Campus. Depending on the number registered, we may have practice on Tuesday/Thursday (for 8th grade), Monday/Wednesday (for the 6/7th grade and Girls Team). Games are at various locations on those same days and will be determined based on the schedule.

When: This is a "Spring" sport and practice begins the week of January 6th, 2025. Once the games schedule starts, practice will be on non-game days at the Tony Grampsas Gym next to the Golden campus. The season runs January 8th - March 12th with the end of season tournament the week of March 3rd. More info will come out about the tournament closer to that time.

Game Schedules: The games schedule will be posted above at the top of this page once it's available. TBD per the district, so stay tuned!

A reminder for each practice and before being allowed to participate:

  • Athletic Shoes
  • Completed registration (with all forms)
  • Water bottle (provided by Compass)
  • A positive attitude and a "coachable" mentality

Fee: The fee to participate can be paid during registration and will be $150
